Montrachet Grand Cru
This is Burgundy's most emblematic white wine. Like all exceptional terroirs, it enjoys the best location on the hillside. Its soil allows the plant to benefit from the best conditions to develop and produce grapes of rare quality. The wine is intense and powerful, it should be drunk while kneeling.
Site: Straddling Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, Montrachet spreads its vines over 7.99 hectares.
History and tradition: Appeared in the Middle Ages, the initial work of the Cistercian abbey of Maizières and the lords of Chagny, Montrachet (pronounced Mon-Rachet) took on its full glory in the 17th century .
Soil: Shallow soils on hard limestone, crossed by a band of reddish marl.
