Description

Morgeot was for a long time the flagship appellation of Chassagne. Always well representative of the style of this village. The wines are more or less rich depending on the clay content of the soil and the work of the winegrower. The origins of the name of the appellation seem to come from the Latin Margo which means "edge, border". Morgeot is indeed on the departmental border between the Côte d'Or and the Saône-et-Loire, corresponding to an old Gallo-Roman limit. A magnificent 12th century building built by the monks of Cîteaux located in the heart of the appellation which is falling into ruin. When you see the budgets invested in constructing sheet metal buildings from China, that says a lot about our desire to respect our history.

Grape: Chardonnay

Website: The 1er Cru Morgeot appellation covers 58 ha and is divided into 21 climates. Our plots, Petit Clos and Tête du Clos are located just below Romanée and Grandes Ruchottes.

History and tradition: The Burgundian monks of Cîteaux established the vineyard around 1150 in Morgeot, a place called Chassagne-Montrachet, and built the Abbey.

Soil: Clay-limestone on the bottom of the plot and silty on the top, this terroir will make it possible to produce rich, harmonious and mineral wines.

However, we remind you that: Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Consume with moderation.

Tasting

Aging potential: 10-15 years

Serving temperature: 10-12°

Food & wine pairing: fish, seafood

Tasting Note:

"A complex nose, less textured and more mineral. Intense and at the same time complex in the mouth with a saline part. It's difficult because they are all good.. Long, even haunting, very good wine ( Again !)." Bill Nanson - Burgundy Report 2017

"A fresher combination made up of notes of white fruits from the orchard, all embellished with notes of rosemary and lemon. In the mouth there is tension and rich flavors, in the middle of the mouth there is volume that gives a nice energy before ending with a lingering slightly warm finish." Allen Meadows - Burghound 2018

L'accord ultime ? à l'apéritif avec les gougères !
