Description

Chassagne-Montrachet is known for its white wines but we must never forget the history. For many years, the Chassagne appellation produced red wines. This cuvée offers what I particularly appreciate in Burgundy. The color is subtle, the tannins are delicate, and the bouquet is intense and complex. In terms of style, I gladly compare it to the Pommard Clos des Poutures. As the notoriety of the red Chassagnes is not that of the whites, it is an excellent quality/price ratio of the domain that I recommend that you put in your cellar.

Grape variety: Pinot Noir

Website: The 1er Cru Morgeot appellation covers 58 ha and is divided into 21 climates. Our plots, Petit Clos and Tête du Clos are located just below Romanée and Grandes Ruchottes.

History and tradition: The Burgundian monks of Cîteaux established the vineyard around 1150 in Morgeot, a place called Chassagne-Montrachet, and built the Abbey.

Soil: To the south of the Morgeot appellation, the soil is quite rich in clay and pebbles. Pinot Noir will, on this terroir, offer us freshness, purity and delicacy.

However, we remind you that: Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Consume with moderation.

Tasting

Aging potential: 10-15 years

Serving temperature: 16-18°

Food & wine pairings:grilled meats, aged cheeses

Tasting note:

"Complex, saline, delicious! A delicate wine but nonetheless a great Chassagne. A little less sulphites used for this wine" Bill Nanson - Burgundy Report 2017

"Very attractive fragrance. Fine, light to medium-bodied with a fragrance that infuses the entire palate, largely with aromas of cherries, but also with light hints of raspberries and fresh strawberries" Jasper morris - Inside Burgundy 2018
