Gevrey-Chambertin - Corvées
Located about ten kilometers from Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the very first wine-growing villages on the Côte de Nuits. In 1847, Gevrey was the first village on the Côte d'Or to add to the name of the village that of one of its grands crus: Gevrey-en-Montagne then became Gevrey-Chambertin. Planted exclusively with Pinot Noir, we find the whole hierarchy of Burgundy appellations: in the North the Premiers Crus and in the South the Grands Crus. The shallow, calcareous and stony red-brown soil gives the red wine of Gevrey-Chambertin power. A great classic from the Côte de Nuits!
