Saint-Aubin 1er Cru - Combes au Sud
The Combes climate in the South is exposed to the North! Terroir perhaps a little underestimated because of its freshness when Burgundy did not always reach optimum maturity. With the last much sunnier vintages, this terroir deserves our full attention. Saint-Aubin is a village that I particularly like. I almost always find a very beautiful construction of wine with a freshness that makes the wines very saline and digestible.
Grape: Chardonnay
Website: Saint-Aubin
History and tradition: After Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin is positioning itself as an outsider that is increasingly taken seriously by lovers of great Chardonnays.
Soil: Located on the lower slopes of Saint-Aubin, on the edge of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. The soil of this plot is quite stony.
Nevertheless, we remind you that: Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Consume with moderation.
Aging potential: 10-15 years
Serving temperature: 10-12°
Food & wine pairings: fish, poultry, seafood
Tasting Note:
"Airy, but a less advanced nose. A little more intensity and finesse, it is a wine of breadth, texture and fairly supple flavors. A fine taste, narrow but very long on the finish - it's a tasty wine." Bill Nanson - Burgundy Report 2019
