Juliénas is a land of shale and blue stone. The same types of soil as on the Côtes de Brouilly and Côtes de Py. In general, these characteristics call for intense and full-bodied wines. At the estate, I prefer to highlight the finesse and elegance of the terroirs. My style of vinification with short vatting, without punching down and just a few pumping over, goes very well with this masculine appellation.
Site: To the north of the Rhône department, Saint Amour and Juliénas lead the way to the Beaujolais wines.
History and tradition: The cultivation of vines in Juliénas dates back more than 2000 years. Juliénas owes its name to Julius Caesar himself. Mont Rouge, Le tour, Le Plat, En Broussaud, La Garenne, La fargette and En Besset, here are the different terroirs that make up our plots at the Combe vineuse estate.
Soil: The vines are grown on soils derived from siliceous volcanic rocks, shale or scree.
