Drink January
Posted by Armand Heitz onI had a phone conversation, he told me it was OK: this year we're doing Drink January.
The concept of Dry January appeared in 2013 in the United Kingdom. Her goal is simple: not to drink alcohol during the month of January. A good resolution I've never even thought of, as you might guess.
Instead of giving up alcohol for just one month, wouldn't it be better to spread out your consumption and improve its quality throughout the year? Isn't it better to open a bottle of good wine that showcases our terroir rather than ordering a meter of shots at happy hour on Thursday evenings?
Drinking alcohol for the sake of drinking alcohol is pointless. The next day is complicated, we deteriorate our health and we get no pleasure from it and often even feel guilty.
Wine consumption in France has been in freefall for years, impacting an entire sector and terroirs. If you want to support farmers like me , you have to adapt your consumption and finance the ultra-industrials less and less to favor passionate producers.
I wish you a happy Drink January and I will start it with a Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Maltroie 2020 .
