Armand Heitz x Milord Circus
Posted by Armand Heitz onIt is in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, a stone's throw from the Vaise metro station, that you can find the Milord Circus at a street corner. Opened in 2019, this restaurant bar surprises us with an atypical decoration inspired by the world of vintage circus and early 20th century freak shows.
The young and smiling team promises you a warm welcome. The menu emphasizes the festive aspect of the place with a choice of cocktails, craft beers, wines from small producers or even a wide variety of aperitif platters. The second part of the menu offers us different slate menus that can be enjoyed every lunchtime, ranging from the simple dish of the day to the full menu.
The chef, Ophélie Renard, prepares seasonal dishes using fresh, local produce. That afternoon, she prepared us a blue ling fillet in a pine nut crust with her clementine sauce, her mashed carrots, semolina and roasted Jerusalem artichokes. To accompany this fish-based dish, the estate's Bourgogne chardonnay 2018, whose citrus notes echo the subtle taste of the clementine sauce. Its powerful and slightly dry does not take over the multiple flavors of this dish but does not let itself be forgotten.
A successful food and wine pairing in this atypical place that we highly recommend. To discover!
